Three Ways To Use Matcha
By now, you’ve probably heard of matcha. It’s been lighting up social media and finding its way onto cafè menus for some time now. An ultra-fine powdered green tea, matcha is usually made into a drink like a hot tea or latte. But there are stacks of other ways you can use the powder!
We love our matcha pistachio balls, but if you are looking for something new, here are just a few suggestions:
Iced Minty Matcha Tea
While you may have tried it hot, matcha is delicious as a cold drink too! You can make it in just a few minutes, and it looks fantastic in a Mason jar or tall glass.
To make, gather:
2 teaspoons matcha powder
2 cups water
A small handful mint leaves
1 lime, sliced
A small handful crushed ice or ice cubes
Honey, to taste (optional)
Add the water and matcha powder to a shaker, or use a Mason jar with a lid to shake thoroughly. You don’t want any lumps of powder! Once you’ve given it a good shake, add the ice and mint, then squeeze in a little lime juice. Give the mixture another shake, then taste. If you want to sweeten it, use a small amount of honey and shake again.
To serve, add two slices of lime to each glass and pour the mixture over the top.
Matcha Berry Bowl
Adding matcha to your breakfast provides your body with antioxidants and nutrients to help you skip out the door!
½ cup Greek yoghurt
2 tablespoons matcha powder
¼ cup blueberries
1 tablespoon chia seeds
1 teaspoon honey
Stir the matcha powder through the yoghurt thoroughly. Pop it into a serving bowl and top with the blueberries and chia seeds. Drizzle the honey over the top and you’re ready to enjoy!
Matcha adds fantastic colour to any dish, and you can mix it with some of your favourite seasonings to make your very own blend! Try combining a small amount with paprika to make a seasoning that is perfect with roast vegetables. You can also mix it with garlic powder or black pepper and sprinkle it over the top of scrambled eggs or tofu.
Once you start using matcha in recipes, there’s a good chance you’ll be hooked! From the colour to the lingering sweetness and the dose of antioxidants, matcha is about to become your pantry’s best friend.
