How To Stick With A Workout Plan
If you’ve been following me on social media, you’ll know by now that I believe there are no shortcuts to achieving your fitness goals.
My programs in the Sweat app are designed to help you establish a regular workout routine. You WILL get stronger if you stick to the program and keep going.
How to stick to a workout plan
With any new workout routine, there will probably be moments when you don’t feel like continuing.
That moment when you feel like giving up is exactly when you need to dig deep and stick with the workout plan!
Did you know that if you get through the first two weeks of a new workout program, there’s a much greater chance you’ll continue with it for the long term?
To help you to stick with your workout program, here are my best tips on how to find the discipline to keep going with a plan.
Don’t rely on motivation alone
Getting motivated to exercise is great, but motivation won’t achieve your fitness goals.
When you want to make exercise a habit, you need to do it even when you don’t feel motivated. This means finding the discipline to follow through with your workout intentions!
Something to keep in mind is that my workouts only take 28 minutes. Just get started, and I bet you’ll feel MUCH better afterwards.
Make the commitment to show up for each workout, regardless of whether you are motivated to do it.
When you do something consistently, it becomes a habit. Once you make working out a habit, it’ll be much easier to keep it up.
When you are consistent with your workouts, you’ll start to feel fitter and stronger. As you get further into the workout program, you’ll become more confident with the exercises.
Pretty soon you’ll notice that you can complete more reps of each exercise, and you get more done in each circuit.
Consistency is the key to success in any new workout routine!
Schedule your workouts
You’ve probably heard the saying “failing to plan is planning to fail”. This applies to many areas of life, but it certainly applies to a new workout routine!
I recommend that you plan your workouts at the start of the week. This way you can make time for exercise before the week gets on top of you.
I usually plan all of my workouts plus one extra in case I have to change my plans during the week. This gives me a backup plan if something unexpected comes up!
Eat well to get strong
When you start working out regularly, you’re going to need to give your body the right fuel so you have the energy you will need!
Know why you started
On days when you feel unmotivated to work out, think about the reasons why you started working out.
Then consider how much better you are going to feel, knowing that you are one step closer to achieving a fitter, more confident version of yourself!
Remembering why you started can help you find the discipline you need to keep going with the program.
Don’t compare yourself to others
I want all of the women who follow my programs to give it their best shot — that means the most effort YOU can, and not looking at what someone else is doing!
Your fitness journey is unique to you. Everyone progresses at a different rate. Go at your own pace, stay consistent and most of all be patient with yourself!
Take the time to celebrate small wins and focus on developing body positivity — feel good about taking care of your body!
No matter how fast or slow you make progress, if you are consistent then you are doing GREAT!
Measure your progress
Find a way to measure your progress that is meaningful to you. Whatever method you choose, it should relate to your reasons for starting the workout program!
Whether you take progress photos, keep a journal of how you feel or you have a fitness challenge you want to improve on, take the time to reflect on how far you’ve come.
All progress counts, whether it’s big changes or small steps. You should be proud of what you have achieved, and use this as inspiration to stay on track.
Join a supportive community
Starting something new is much easier when you aren’t doing it alone! There are women from all over the world building a community through the Sweat app.

If you miss a workout, don’t be discouraged! You CAN shift your mindset when you feel like giving up. Just start where you left off and keep going.
